At The Western Star, we are driven by a fundamental mission: to create and establish physical meeting spaces for our members as quickly as we can. These brick-and-mortar locations will serve as pivotal hubs for fostering community engagement, facilitating discourse, and strengthening our collective efforts to uphold and promote our values, in the event that our liberties and freedoms we hold dear get trampled by the forces that have been unleashed against us.

If we give up, or sit back on our laurels, then in this future, we can more than imagine a scenario where censorship escalates to the point of a totalitarian state, reminiscent of Orwell's dystopian vision in 1984 (we were dangerously close to that before this election). In such a reality, the suppression of free expression could lead to a society where dissent is stifled, and critical discourse is silenced, especially in digital spaces. This makes our mission to create a "reserve" or rear-guard stopgap more urgent than ever. The consequences of this transformation would be dire—impacting not only our ability to communicate freely, but also our capacity to advocate effectively for the values we hold dear.

Winning the election was a victory in a skirmish, but the real battle has only just begun. The fight against the growing influence of socialist and authoritarian agendas is a long-haul struggle. As we face this ideological war, we must be prepared to commit for the long term, focusing on the preservation of our most cherished freedoms.
